Work in Movement
2018
Process-based performance for From Here to There: Australian Art and Walking, Lismore Regional Gallery.
This artwork engaged social modalities such as conversation, dialogue and walking as a process of documenting relational knowledge in Lismore. The work was motivated by an enquiry into how place is historically determined, invented, performed and re-narrativised by different times, meanings and social political contexts.
Over a two-month period I engaged with Lismore-based women for whom walking was an active part of life and work, seeking to understand local indigenous customs, along with the values of non-indigenous communities.
